Coupon Organization

When you first start saving coupons it can be a very overwhelming task. I suggest you start out small and simple. First only clip coupons for the products that you use and buy anyway. Then after you start getting use to actually using the coupons and organizing them you are ready to move on to clipping things that you would use if it was free.
This is how I think when I clip my coupons.
  1. Do we use this?
  2. Would we use it if it was free?
  3. If it is free do I know someone who uses this or can I donate it to a shelter?
At first I would buy things because I could get it for free or super cheap. Now that I have a small stockpiles I will pass on the coupon to someone else.

Clipping your coupons:
I get my coupons from 2 main sources. First is the Sunday paper. (I fill up at Kum & Go on Sunday's and get a paper for free. I refer to these coupons as manufacture coupons since they come from the manufactures themselves. Second is the Internet printable coupons. I also have people give me their coupons that they don't use and would otherwise throw away. Another option I have used once is a website called The Coupon Master and Coupon Clippers. They charge a fee for each coupon you buy but sometimes this is worth it. My latest was 5 bags of coffee, 4 boxes of band-aids for the price of the coupons which was around $3.00.

Manufacture coupons are pretty easy and the main thing to watch is your dates. I try and go through my coupons at the end of each month and pull out the ones that are expired or are expiring soon.

The Internet coupons you can usually print 2 of them if you hit your back button. These are excepted almost everywhere. I have only had one denied but that was because the register wouldn't read the bar code. I use them a lot at Target, Walmart and all my grocery stores. I have printed them in black & white ink to save money on printing them and they have taken them just fine also. I have my two main sources for these on the side bar of the blog and smartsource.com. I usually will add a link for a coupon when I find them.

Next time I will show how I organize my coupons. I would love to post pictures for everyone how you organize your coupons too. Shoot me an email with pictures.
